20 Pearls of Wisdom From The Book of Job

If you're enduring a season of hardship, be encouraged and use this time to build your faith. God is still on the throne and He's in control. Let these 20 pearls of wisdom from the book of Job remind us that God always has the last say in our lives....

Seek God, Not Man

The Bible tells us that as soon as Job received the terrible news about losing his children and his wealth. He immediately responded by seeking God in worship saying, "The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord."

Honor God by seeking Him early in the midst of your trial.

Hold Fast To Your Integrity

Job never wavered in his integrity. He held firmly to the character of God and focused on Him instead of the current circumstances.

Don't waver; stand firm.

All Counsel Is Not Wise Counsel

One of Job's friends suggested that his hardship was the result of sin and that it was meant for discipline and reproof. However God declared that Job was "blameless and upright."

Trials are not always meant for discipline and reproof, but God will use them to grow us.

There's Power in Confidence

Not confidence in yourself, but confidence in God.

God is faithful.

Find Encouragers

Spend time with friends who have the gift of encouragement. Job had another friend that reminded him, "God will not reject a blameless man..He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting."

Good friends strengthen you in the Lord

God Cares About Our Distress

Job knew that God saw his calamity and he resolved that the Almighty had a rescue plan for him as he said, "I know my redeemer lives."

Believe that God will rescue You.

God Defends Us

God protected Job and chastised his friends when He said, "My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has."

Remain humble and God will lift you up.

God Knows What We Can Handle

God know our hearts, so when satan challenged the Lord in chapter one regarding Job's character...God already knew Job would withstand.

God created you and He knows what you're made of.

God Works Behind The Scenes

While the reader knows about the opening scene of the Book of Job, Job himself had know idea. God is always working behind the scenes in our life, and what may look like a "setback" becomes a "setup" for great blessing.

God is the Divine orchestrator of life.

God Boasts About His Children

God brags on us when we walk according to His will. He says this about Job, "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man..."

God brags on you.

God Always Has The Last Word

God didn't leave Job hanging in the midst of trial and hardship.

God determines the final outcome of everything.

God Has Faith In Us

God has faith in us. He is our biggest cheerleader and always believes the best of us. God allowed Job to endure this season and had faith in his ability to overcome.

God believes in you, don't give up.

God Hears Our Cries

Throughout the story God was listening in on the conversations and was close to Job. The Bible tells us that God is close to the brokenhearted, so no matter what you're going through...God is there.

God is close.

God Strengthens Us

More times than not, trial seasons are an opportunity to grow spiritually in your walk with God.

God prunes us to be fruitful.

God Allows Trials

Eventhough we don't know exactly why God allowed Job to be tested in this way, we do know that His plan is ultimately to grow us up for the better.

Pray for God's wisdom to understand and accept.

God Sharpens Our Understanding

In all our getting we should get understanding. At the end of the Book of Job, we see a stronger and more mature Job who grew in his understanding of God.

God wants us to grow in the knowledge of HIM.

God is Just

God is a God of justice. He will not let us go through a season of sowing and ignore our season of reaping. Be steadfast and lean on Him through Christ.

Vengeance is the Lord's.

God is Sovereign

In chapter's 38 and 39 God spends time affirming His sovereignty in both the heavens and the earth, reminding Job that he is a created being subject to a powerful and awesome Creator.

If nothing else, lean on God's sovereignty.

It's Okay to Ask Why

Job, like many of us wanted clarity about his current state. It's a not a sin to ask God questions and to plead our case before Him.

Talk to God, Ask Him to grant you peace of mind.

Double For Our Trouble

"And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning," - Job 42:12. The enemy did not have the last say in Job's life. God did. And while we're all going through our own issues, let's remember that Job reaped a lifetime of blessing from a season of distress.

God's blessings are inevitable when you maintain a steadfast walk with Him.
